Breast Augmentation for Goldens Bridge, NY
Volume, lift or both — board-certified Dr. Chang Soo Kim tells you which your breasts actually need.

Size, shape or position?
Two women who both ask for a breast augmentation are not always asking for the same thing. Some want more volume. Some have the volume but have lost the shape or the height they had before children or weight loss. Some want both. Getting that distinction right is the most useful thing a consultation does, because each one calls for a different operation. Ours takes place in Bedford Hills, a little over four miles south of Goldens Bridge by I-684 — around eight minutes without traffic.
Four procedures, four different jobs
- Breast augmentation adds volume with a silicone or saline implant, and can also improve symmetry between the two sides.
- Natural fat transfer augmentation adds a softer, more modest increase using fat taken by liposuction from somewhere you would like slimmer.
- Breast lift raises and reshapes breasts that have dropped, using your own tissue; an implant is added only if more fullness is also a goal.
- Breast reduction is for the opposite problem: breasts that are heavier than you want.
When volume and position have both changed, a lift and an augmentation can be planned together. To decide, Dr. Kim examines you, takes measurements and looks at the breast crease as well as at what you describe.
Are you a candidate for implants?
The women most likely to be happy with an augmentation share a few things:
- they are in good physical health;
- they do not smoke, or are willing to stop for as long as they are asked to;
- their breasts have finished developing;
- they are unhappy with the size or shape, and their expectations are realistic;
- they are prepared to follow the instructions given before and after surgery.
The risks, plainly
Every operation carries some. For an augmentation they include swelling, bruising and changes in sensation in the early weeks; scars, which are kept small and usually fade; implant problems such as rupture, capsular contracture or shifting; and, rarely, infection or slow healing. Being close to your surgeon helps here: if something worries you, you can be seen quickly.
