The commonest worry about lip filler is ending up looking overdone. How the filler goes in

Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid gels, which draw in moisture to give soft, flexible volume. Bellava uses FDA-approved products from the Juvéderm and Restylane families — Juvéderm Ultra XC and Volbella XC among them, and Restylane Silk for fine lip lines. Placement is precise: along the border for definition, at the Cupid’s bow and the two ridges above it for shape, and in tiny droplets or fine threads where a little volume is all that is needed. The appointment takes 15 to 30 minutes, and the difference is visible as soon as it is done.

Plan two weeks ahead of a big day

Swelling, tenderness and some bruising are normal for the first 24 to 72 hours, and the lips settle fully over 10 to 14 days. So for a wedding, a reunion or photographs, have the treatment at least two weeks before. Results typically last 6 to 12 months, with a maintenance visit on about that schedule to keep the shape.

For the first few days, cold compresses and a gentle balm help, and sleeping with your head a little raised does too. Skip straws, spicy or salty food, strenuous exercise, lipstick, heat and strong sun, and leave your lips alone unless your injector has told you to massage them.

Can lip filler be undone? Yes. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, in the rare case someone wants it removed.

Is there a minimum age? Bellava treats adults 18 and over who are in good general health and want a natural-looking change.
