VEIN PROCEDURES
Conditions that cause unsightly veins can result from family history, pregnancy, overexposure to the sun, and standing or sitting for long periods. At Bellava, we utilize advanced procedures to treat varicose veins, spider veins, and chronic vein insufficiency with little to no downtime or discomfort.
VEIN PROCEDURES
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
At Bellava, we use radiofrequency ablation (RFA) to treat varicose veins that can be unsightly and painful. RFA is a minimally invasive alternative to eliminate abnormal veins, redirect blood flow to healthy veins, and relieve discomfort.
During RFA treatment, ultrasound imaging helps guide the doctor to insert a thin catheter through a small incision. The incision is so minimal that it requires only a single dose of local anesthetic to ensure comfort. After the catheter is in position, the radiofrequency heating element at the end of the probe is activated, which causes the surrounding vessel to contract, forcing the blood to reroute through healthier veins.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and typically takes an hour or less. You may return to normal activities the same day. Patients should wear compression stockings for at least two weeks to ensure the best cosmetic outcome and prevent the formation of small clots.
RFA is far more comfortable and just as effective as the traditional procedure of stripping the vein.
RFA Benefits:
- Small incision area
- Minimal discomfort
- Little to no downtime
- Covered by most medical insurance plans
- Can be combined with other vein procedures for maximum results
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a polidocanol medicated solution directly into the affected vein. This causes the vein to scar and the blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is then reabsorbed into local tissue and gradually fades. Most patients feel only minimal discomfort during the procedure and side effects from the medication itself are quite rare. After wearing compression stockings for a few days, many patients are back to normal and can see dramatic results.
Sclerotherapy is ideal for treating spider veins, varicose veins, chronic vein insufficiency, and leg pain, swelling, and cramping caused by venous insufficiency.
Sclerotherapy Benefits:
- Safe, painless, and affordable
- Little to no downtime
- Effective in as little as 2-4 treatments
- Can be combined with other vein procedures
- Conducted in a comfortable, luxury medical setting
Varithena®
At Bellava, we use Varithena® to treat the symptoms of superficial venous reflux disease. This treatment is great for enhancing the effects of thermal treatment and reaching veins that other treatments cannot.
The doctor will administer Varithena® microfoam into the malfunctioning veins. Because this is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment, it doesn’t require incisions. The doctor typically numbs the injection site and no additional anesthesia is required.
Once the Varithena® microfoam is administered, it expands until the malfunctioning vein collapses. This triggers the rerouting of blood flow, causing unsightly veins to disappear overtime.
Varithena® Benefits:
- Safe and little or no discomfort
- Visible results in as little as one treatment
- Minimally invasive, no varicose vein surgery
- Procedure takes less than an hour
- Can be combined with other vein procedures for maximum results
