At Bellava Westchester Plastic Surgery Center we are proud to introduce MicroPen microneedling—one of the latest, most effective procedures to obtain gorgeous, younger-looking skin.
Formally known as “Collagen Induction Therapy,” microneedling for the face is prized by celebs for improving overall texture and tone, reducing surface scarring and smoothing out fine wrinkles.
“Micro needling” uses very tiny needles to create micro channels in the skin, stimulating your skin’s natural ability to heal itself, and in the process it produces collagen and elastin.
Collagen and elastin are known as the skin’s “youth proteins,” Collagen helps your skin stay smooth and firm. It also aids in the formation of new skin cells and keeps out harmful toxins. Elastin keeps your skin younger looking by keeping it flexible and elastic. As we age, the body makes less of these critical proteins, making the skin appear thin, loose and saggy.
Carried out under the supervision of our board-certified Westchester plastic surgeon C.S. Kim, MD, MicroPen microneedling is usually combined with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), or Synthetic Growth Factor, for optimal results. You may have already heard of this combination, which has been promoted by Kim Kardashian and other stars as the “Vampire Facelift.”
When combined with PRP or synthetic growth factor, microneedling delivers even better results in improving skin texture and tone, as well as a larger reduction in wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
Microneedling is safe for all skin types. The procedure is comfortable. In fact, the high-speed motor causes the needle penetration to occur very quickly which means it will feel more like a sandpaper sensation than needles.
Post-procedure, most patients experience some redness that lasts between 2-4 days. Improvement to the skin will take place over the course of several weeks, and can improve up to 6 months. For best results, we recommend a series of 3-5 MicroPen treatments, spaced approximately 6-8 weeks apart.
