Westchester Rhinoplasty at Bellava in Bedford Hills, NY
Nose reshaping surgery in Bedford Hills, Westchester
Rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping, can improve the look of the nose, creating a more beautiful appearance and boosting self-confidence. Often referred to as a “nose job,” this plastic surgery procedure can also correct breathing problems associated with the nose, such as a deviated septum.
While the shape of one’s nose is usually the result of heredity, sometimes its appearance may have been altered by an injury, like a broken nose, or prior surgery, which can also motivate someone to have a rhinoplasty procedure.
Since rhinoplasty is a highly individualized procedure, it is important that you find a plastic surgeon with a high level of expertise whom you can really trust.
At Bellava MedAesthetics & Plastic Surgery Center in Bedford Hills (near Katonah, Mount Kisco, Chappaqua, Armonk, Ridgefield, etc.), rhinoplasty procedures are performed by our acclaimed Westchester-based board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Chang Soo Kim, MD.
- Change nose size, improving proportion while enhancing facial harmony in relation to other facial structuresChange nose width at the bridge, a very common complaint
- Change nose profile, by removing visible humps, depressions or extreme sloping
- Fine tune the nasal tip, which may be large or bulbous, drooping, or too upturned
- Fine tune nostrils that are too large, too wide or irregularly shaped
- Correct nasal asymmetry and deviation due to athletic injury or congenital abnormality
If you are considering having a rhinoplasty procedure, Dr. Kim would be happy to sit down with you in our luxury, state-of-the-art Westchester plastic surgery center for a complimentary consultation.
According to Dr. Kim, “Most people come into my office unhappy about the appearance of their nose for a variety of reasons. For a plastic surgeon, this consultation is probably the most tenuous. The nose, quite obviously, is the center of the face. After carefully listening to the chief complaint, I photograph the nose and upload the photo onto a screen. Then the patient and I begin discussing goals and the desired outcome. A picture speaks a thousand words.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is a rhinoplasty right for me?
Nose cosmetic surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image. You should have specific but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance.
Q. Do all rhinoplasties look the same?
Absolutely not. Dr. Kim contours the nose in a shape and size that is commensurate with the width of the eyes, the height of the cheekbones, mouth width, chin shape and jaw line. A well-performed rhinoplasty is defined by the face and not the plastic surgeon.
Q. Will I still have my old nose?
Yes. Dr. Kim works to achieve the most natural and subtle changes.
Q. Will my nose still be in sync with my ethnicity?
Absolutely. Dr Kim has extensive experience with rhinoplasties in cultures that take pride in the dominance of the nose. Often it is just the desire to tone down an unattractive, hyperbolic feature of the nose.
Q. What happens during a rhinoplasty procedure?
Incisions are made inside the nostrils to alter the nasal bones depending on the patient’s desired result. Cartilage may be trimmed. The nasal passages are then packed and an external splint is applied.
Q. Are the scars visible?
There are no external scars after a rhinoplasty procedure.
Q. Will I require general anesthesia?
Not necessarily. This will depend on the extent of internal surgery that is required.
Q. When can I return to work or the gym?
Generally, a small cast is applied to the nose at the time of surgery for a period of seven days. Patients are instructed not to exercise for two weeks. Depending on the nature of employment, patients can return to work in a matter of days. A longer period of recuperation is recommended for patients who hold high profile positions, as well as those whose jobs entail a high degree of physical activity.
