Westchester Neck Lift at Bellava in Bedford Hills, NY
Lift sagging skin on neck with Necklift in Westchester
Reduce sagging, wrinkled skin on and around the neck with a necklift, a highly popular surgical procedure that can remove fat as well as smooth and tighten the skin and muscles on the neck. This procedure can also reduce the appearance of a double chin to restore a more youthful appearance.
When considering neck rejuvenation, it is important to determine the source of the aged appearance. Excess skin and fat collection under the chin leading to loss of the angle below the chin, fat distribution across the neck making the neck and face look like one structure, and the bands of muscles tethering in front of the neck may all be contributing factors. Each of these issues can be addressed separately or through a combination of procedures.
At Bellava MedAesthetics & Plastic Surgery Center in Bedford Hills, NY, board-certified plastic surgeon Chang Soon Kim, MD, is an expert in all variations of neck lift surgery, having performed thousands of these surgeries.
A neck lift procedure involves making small incisions directly below the chin – and in some cases below the ears as well. The necklift often involves both a cervicoplasty to remove excess skin and a platymasty to remove or alter muscles. Liposuction may also be used to remove excess fat. The entire procedure usually takes about 1 ½ -3 hours. In some cases, Sciton Laser Lipo (a laser liposuction process most comparable with SlimLipo™) with laser skin tightening can also be used to restore the neck. Dr. Kim would be happy to sit down with you at our premier Westchester plastic surgery center (near Katonah, Chappaqua, Armonk, Ridgefield, etc.) during a complimentary consultation to discuss the neck lift procedure with you. Once he has an opportunity to determine which issues best describes your situation, a plan can be devised for treatment.
Neck Lift FAQs
Q. What is a neck lift?
A neck lift is a procedure that lifts and rejuvenates a sagging and/or full neck jaw line.
Q. Who is a good candidate for a neck lift?
The best candidate for a neck lift is a healthy man or woman who is unhappy about unwanted sagging of the neck and/or jaw line.
Q. What type of anesthesia is used for a neck lift?
It depends on what kind of neck lift procedure you undergo. Most surgical neck lift procedures require general anesthesia. However some surgical neck lifts are accomplished under local anesthesia and a neck procedure using Sciton Laser Lipo laser liposuction (which is comparable to SlimLipo™) can be done under local.
Q. What happens during a neck lift procedure?
A neck lift involves incisions being made under the chin and behind or under the ear, so the surgeon can tighten the muscles and skin. Liposuction maybe used if you have excessive amounts of fat in the chin area as well. If your neck-lift requires liposuction to reduce excess fat, the liposuction procedure is typically performed first. An incision will be made below the chin to reduce the excess fat deposits. The fat deposits will be removed by inserting a small cannula (hollow tube) beneath the skin and into the fatty tissue. The cannula is used to break up the fat, and then remove it from the neck area. The excess skin is then trimmed away before the wound is closed with stitches or tissue glue, usually behind or below the ear. A pressure dressing is then placed around the head to help the wound heal.
Q. How long does a neck lift take to perform?
A neck lift can take between 1 ½ to 3 hours to complete depending on what approach is being used and how much work is being done.
Q. Are there scars after a necklift?
Though incisions are made that leave scars, they tend to be well concealed, as they are mainly located behind the ear and sometimes beneath the chin.

Q. When will I be able to return to work after a neck lift?
Most patients are able to return to work within 5-10 days after a neck lift and sometimes sooner.
Q. When can I exercise after a neck lift?
Aerobic activity may be resumed within 10-14 days after the neck lift and more strenuous activity (resistance workouts) within 3-4 weeks.
